I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable chap's out there could give me advice on how to work out what size rear shock absorbers I would need to enable me to lower the backend by 2 inches? This is something I have never done before and would a little help. Many thanks in anticipation from the kind folk on this forum.

At this point you need to see if there is room between the tyre and mudguard to allow for rider sag and shock compression. I don't recall anyone lowering the bike this much, mostly people were fitting shocks one inch less in length.
There will be some info on shorter shocks here somewhere, you need to use the search function.

The 2 inch figure was just an estimate but now it's been questioned I shall be careful about clearance. My aim at some point is to source racked triple trees and over-length forks, I don't know if it'll work but one can only try... Thanks once again.

I've got 11.5" shocks in mine and that's about as low as I'd want to go clearance wise, especially if you ride two up. Hope this helps.
Whereabouts in UK are you mate?

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look around for that size, but to be honest I'm struggling to find shocks as beefy looking as the standard ones.
How much has that dropped the back end down?
I ride alone, single seat.
I'm in Worcestershire.

What a stunning looking bike... you should be very proud of it.
Looking at the rear end it's not too far from standard height but does make a subtle difference and I really like subtle...
I'd upload a piccie of my Tbird but I have no idea how to reduce the Kb's.... not over-good with this technology...
