| | Posted : 02 Oct 2010 - 20:53 Post title : Tyre repair | | | Had a tyre repair (small nail in centre of tyre) on my rear Metzeler. When I finally found someone who would do it they charged me £35. Is that the going rate for this repair or did they spot desperation in my face?

Not sure what that is equivalent to in pounds, but lets say it's about the cost of 2 quarts of the best synthetic oil. I did mine recently and the cost of the plug kit was 1/4 of a single repair and it will do 4 repairs. Takes all of about 3 minutes to do and it's simple. you get one of those kits with the plugs that look like gummy worms and feel about the same. There are many brands and i'm sure they are all the same.

but some up here have been quoted about that from dealers for just removing the back wheel before a tyre change so first thoughts are if they removed the wheel for you although it seems a lot of money it could be in context befitting.
a good plug kit costs about £24 might be worth having as you get about 4 plugs in a kit

The guy was keen to explain the process so maybe he was a little guilty of what he was charging. Thanks guys.
