has anyone ever had any experience of these items? Had a top box on a couple of previous bikes, not sure how it would be on the TB.

So, I like that rack. No sissy bar, but side holds. Thanks.

check out how easy it is to close, fasten and lock before you buy as the givi top box is very awkward

I purchased the Journey 50L and fitted it to the standard Tbird rack by removing the sissybar and cutting off the top part of the pipe (it folds back too far and you cannot open a top box with it on). I then inverted the pegs remaining and treated them against rust. But by replacing them upside down, so the chrome ends face upwards: result standard Tbird luggage rack with Journey 50 top box, which means I can remove the ugly thing whenever I feel like it!
Now the downside. You can buy a pad for the box to serve as a back rest but it is very hard and my wife found it very uncomfortable. So, I purchased a long-haul Triumph back rest for their standard sissybar and fitted on top of the Hepco back rest. In fact I think it looks really good and it provides a very comfortable back rest in a more forward position. (I will take a photo on the weekend and upload it for you because I imagine that this is hard to visualize).
This solution works fine as you can quickly remove just the Hepco box or the whole thing (ie the Triumph rack with the box attached. (However word of warning, remove the box first, it is too cumbersome and you might end up damaging the bike when removing the rack and box at the same time).
The Hepco box is very high quality and very scratch resistant. I find the opening system a bit of a pain but it is not as bad as the Givi! Why can't someone design a simple box that opens and closes easily and without fuss?!
I also have a rack on th box which will be handy for fixing the Hepco additional luggage bag too.
Hoping this helps?

So if I get the rear rack and box then all should be good. If I do any touring on the TB it wont be too far and I travel light so the 42L or 50L will be plenty for me. Good tip about the back rest too.
Thanks again,
Al

I'm considering a similar modification for a top box I've got... don't want to cut up my sissy bar but trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to pay someone to fabricate/duplicate the bottom bits of the bars or just buy a sissy bar and cut it myself.

I think it's possible with the Triumph Sissy Bar and Rack to remove the Sissy Bar. Unfortunately the bolts screw into the Sissy bar uprights so extra nuts are required refit the rack.
The fixing for the Givi box then bolts to the rack using Givi's standard fixings.
I am also thinking of wiring the rear stop light into the top box because of the position of the rear light being high up on the rear fender and potentially obsured by the top box.

I'm sorta hopeing my brother will come to the rescue by making me some tappered rubber bungs as he works for a car parts company doing all sorts of rubber trims (not asked him yet!!).
The trick'll be getting to stop in but still be removeable.
