I am and it's getting louder with time, it sounds like it coming from the motor.... I am starting to wonder if the dealer tightened my belt too tight or could the be something internal the will soon break.... Or is this simply a new noise that will go away in time, I have heard this for a while but the last 700 miles it has gotten very loud (7k miles on bike)

Seems to happen when it's too loose, and it doesn't have to be way too loose either. Just a bit loose can cause it. Also seems worse in cold weather.

Dave!!

I can hear a slight chirping at idle and the very bad at 2200 to 2300 rpm, it then goes away...
It goes from sounding like a pulley to a supercharger at times......but is not from the rear wheel as you can hear it at idle

It's a "chirp, chirp" noise at idle and a rapid almost solid squeal at speed.

I will have it checked out at next visit. It is an engine noise without a doubt. As I am on my second bird because of warrenty issues I am not too worried about how my dealer will deal with it. I would be interested to know what it is though.

I asked them to at least note it on my information...no telling whether that was done or not

I would guess, (only) that at idle you may be hearing vibration squeek that increases to rotation noise. The rubber, cubi-zoids...what do you call solid trapezoid shapes? They exist to spread the massive torque load from the axle out to the bowl of the hub. I think he just sprayed in the crack.

My bike started making noise at about 5000 miles. The noise at Idle I have not noticed but can see where it would come from especially when the clutch/engine is cold. If you might notice the clutches are stickier when cold and even when the clutch lever is pulled there is still some friction. Try pushing the bike in gear with the clutch pulled and feel the friction. At idle with the, clutch in, some rotation will transfer to the rear hub (Squeak!). I hear it at acceleration and deceleration. I will try some soap solution spray in the hub when I think about it before a ride to try and confirm. My Speedy cush drive always showed sign of rubber wear when a I looked with balls of rubber inside. Never any squeaks though.
