Or a defective belt in the tire because it would have to be one hell of a pot hole to damage it.Granted, defective new tires may be far and few between, but I have run into the problem once on one of my bikes, and the problem was,in fact, a defective front tire.I mean this tire theory may not be etched in stone, but something is causing the problem. In my case,it was the tire, and it was still new, with very few miles on it,and again, why I mentioned it.

I would have to look to see if I have a warranty. How do you prove that the tire is bad? And if it is, why at only 40 mph?

Sorry, I can't answer those questions. In my situation, the dealer replaced the tire after some complaining... bike was under warranty at the time.

Who installed the new Avon tire (you or dealer) and how many miles on it?

I had a local motorcycle mechanic mount it. He has been in the business for many years and I have had him mount many tires without any issues. I will need to check the tire. Guessing I may have 3K on it now. It has not gotten worse - just the same.

I'd talk to the mechanic (if you haven't already) and ask him to figure it out. He installed it, has proof of purchase and knows how to deal with the manufacturer if necessary. ...great effort in trying to troubleshoot, now go back to him.

been watching this discussion for a while now ,,,and feel I have to make acomment....Had a new front tyre fitted a few yrs ago, rode it out of the workshop and the front end went ballistic...Took it back and they checked the steering head etc to cover their own arse, , rebalanced the wheel,,nothing wrong and ten the mechanic took it for a test,,,,came back and said, jeez that's bad...Finally a nother tyre went on and the problem solved...Long story is,,,get rid of the tyre and demand another f,cken one, that's what your problem..

I bought it online and had a local guy mount it. It has about 3K on it. I'll let it wear out before replacing it - the wobble is less than before.

Yep, that's what I meant by blemish. luckily a cut rear tire solved my problem ( I replace my tires as a set ) and like the original person I bought mine online and had a local guy mount it.

I do ALL MY own WORK as this is my trade and what I've been doing for LIVING ALL MY LIFE.And what I've discovered, atleast around here,is these so called mechanics, who work at these SO CALLED dealerships,or stealerships as we've come to know them by,don't know JACK SHIT about motorcycles, but are not bashfull about handing you an outrageous bill for FUCKIN UP YOUR BIKE! The only shops that I'm aware of which have good mechanics, are the HD dealerships, and that's because HD sends them to school BEFORE they are allowed to work on those machines. If the rest of the industry would follow suit, what a great world we would live in!!!
