| | Posted : 15 Jul 2017 - 00:25 Post title : Back with the Cat?? | | | So, after doing the cat bypass, long TOR's and retune, as stated in many other posts, I get lots of popping on deceleration. It is pretty loud, both the acceleration and popping on deceleration. Was thinking of putting the cat back on to lose the popping and to drop the exhaust sound a little? Does this make any sense?? And would I need a retune if just putting the cat back on?
I am able to work around the decel popping with the throttle (but would rather not), but I am going to the mountains soon and using the engine brake a lot will get old with all the popping.

I found the [20359] TORs map to still be too lean so I dropped the A/F ratio by about 5%. Also fixed a questionable F/L switchpoint setting. There's a post about it around April 2016 in the Tune Repository.
I've been using this tune for over a year and have done a plug check; all looks good and popping significantly reduced. Longs TORs and K&N air filter with seal removed but I do still have my cat.

Regardless, I'd at least redo the 12-minute tune.

Sound was almost the same as with the cat, very little difference. Putting back on the stock pipes is not an option, spent too much on the TOR's.
I installed the bypass pipes and TOR's, but had the dealer do the retune, so I am not sure what map they used.
As far as the 12 minute tune goes. Do I need to start with a cold motor? Or can I come in after riding, turn the bike off and back on again to do the tune?
Also if I put the cat back on do I need a retune?

(Re: plpitts1) | | | If you have used elbow types for bypassing the cat then I can understand your comment on noise. my experience with these and short tors has been a really loud raspy unpleasant sound. A proper set up such as the Meerkat gives a much deeper note that is just loud enough on acceleration.FWIW.

Exhaust into the header It noticed an increase in HP and torque
The PV5 and the dynoing with 97octane, I noticed that some of my gains were lowered RPM. YEA
It got it's own blasts, under a bridge, sometimes
It sounds like cannon fire. Every thing has a pro/ con

Went to high school for a little while and Sydney, Chatswood High. Great country. That was quite a while ago though.

I doubt the dealer will do it unless he has a dyno or is willing to use the tunecu program.

You need TuneECU (free), the cable ($10-20 on eBay) and a laptop. Then go to the Tune section here, and load one that matches your intake/exhaust configuration.
Or, you can buy a power commander with autotune (couple hundred bucks).
Or you can take it to a tuner with a dyno (couple hundred bucks).
