If these are higher performance than TORs, a re-tune would be necessary. TuneECU shouldn't be used on the Commander or LT, according to the TuneECU site.

Hi Guys, Back on deck and doin some riding at last.....
Just fitted vance and hines to the commander, Awesome idle, accel and cruise but the backfiring was deafening...
I wrapped the baffles with fiberglass.(hard to remove,,very tight, ended up using a slide hammer as recommended by manufacturer)..

SUCCESS idle, accel and cruise all sound bit deeper....music some popping but not excessive and backfire eliminated..
Finally sounds like a real bike, I,m a happy chappy..

PS I got dealer to install updated current tors tune, all else stock...cheers all, Tadpole

Did they bolt on with no issues? Apparently the first ones that were sent out required quite a bit of fiddling to install properly.

I love the look and they sound nice on the Vance and Hines video. Have you heard the TORS on the LT/Commander and would
you say that these are louder?

Cheers, Pete

"A bit of fiddling"? I don't count having to hack half an inch off the header pipe as a bit of fiddling! - how much does a new header pipe cost should you want to fit the stockers back?

I would have billed V&H for a new header.

I also just installed the Vance & Hines pipes on my 2014 Commander, they sound awesome, no issues at all with installation. Now if it would just stop f@cking snowing so I can give them a test ride.

Was your backfiring really THAT bad? Mine pops a bit on decel, but that's about it. No actual backfiring. My Triumph shop did a custom tune/map/whatever according to them. Apparently now Triumph has a map out specifically for the V&H pipes. I'm going up there next week and will inquire more about it then.

Hi Rally. I ended up wrapping the baffles with fiberglass, bit quieter but the backfire cured and some popping/rumbling on decal..
The tune number was 20824 but the bike was surging and bucking at low speed with a constant throttle during heavy slow traffic and the dealer ended up going back to the stock tune and its running fine now...Can you get the tune number when you enquire at the dealer, many thanks, cheers, Tadpole

Wow, that's really strange. I've only ever had a backfire when I've downshifted a bit prematurely and the engine throttles up suddenly. Other than that, it just pops, which admittedly I kind of like haha. Since I last posted on here, I also installed the Triumph foam air filter to see if that would make a difference and believe it or not the popping seems to occur less often. Can't say the filter does anything more for performance though.

I'll be heading up to the dealer this Thursday because my dad and I are gonna install the V&H pipes on his LT and then ride up to have them tune his bike. I'll inquire about the tune number and what exactly was done with mine whilst we're there. When I had them tune my bike, I'd assumed they were gonna load the TORS map, but the bike ran great afterwards so I didn't really worry about which tune they did. When I called to make this new appointment, the Triumph tech wasn't in at the time, and whoever I spoke to said that the tech probably had done a custom tune. I wasn't sure if that was possible due to our "sealed" ECUs, but I suppose it being sealed just restricts access to dealers' software and perhaps they CAN load maps of their own design. I honestly don't know. This is my first fuel-injected bike, so it's all new to me.

Also, for anyone who's been following this thread, and has been wanting to see more pics of how the V&H pipes look on these bikes, here's a few more of my Commander with them fitted. I meant to upload more LONG ago and kept forgetting. The pics are from a trip my dad and I took in the fall. the LT is his.

Hi Rally, To the best of my knowledge they can only load whatever tunes triumph allow, I watched my mechanic (dealers son) and it only took approx. 2-3 minutes from hookup to download install completed..My bike is stock apart from the v&h pipes. I tried the airbox rubber seal removed, made no appreciable difference....I loved the sound and the popping and rumble on decal was great,,but then it would backfire very loudly which was a real pain to put up with, Its quieter now and no backfiring but more subdued which is a bit disappointing....Be interesting to find out the tune number your dealer has used, many thanks for your info, your bike looks great and so does the LT, cheers Tadpole
