I removed the pillion seat, but can't get the rider seat off. It shows in the manual a catch to pull at the back of the seat. I cannot find this. What am I missing?

First time I have owned a Triumph. Owned Harley's, Honda's, Yamaha's, Suzuki's. I usually replace the seat first thing. Most of the bikes I have ridden you simply push the seat forward and pull up. This seat is locked down. Watched several video's, but all must be on a previous model because they showed a hex screw you had to remove. This seat does not have any hex screws that I can find. I have removed both side panels and just cannot find the release mechanism.

So, back to your question...I have no idea (sorry, I own an early model) but someone should steer you in the right direction. Cheers!

My Commander is like that so I guess the LT would be the same.
I had a little trouble locating it the first time too. It's tucked up out of sight at the back left corner of the seat.

You can see the pull ring toward the lower front portion of the seat in this picture. I believe that's actually the back of the seat so the tab should be somewhere near where the passenger seat connects in to the rider seat. Looks like it's on the kickstand side of the seat if my spatial orientation isn't off. I have a Storm so I can't go out to the garage and check. Hope this helps.

There was a problem with my seat. The cable was not in the tabs to hold it in place...thus it was hidden and I had to dig it out. It also does not have a ring on the end (I assume this is broken off). Here is what the cable looked like after I took the seat off.
These two are pictures of the cable within the proper tabs.
I would never have found this without all the help here. Thanks again!

If you've already been in for the 500mile service, now you got a guy to point the finger at. Get them to sort it for you!

I know how frustrating little things like this can be. The part you're missing looks like it's a $7 part so get on the dealer to order that ring for you. Here's the blowout of the seat parts on BikeBandit. Link You need part #8. Make sure the dealer orders one up for you and you'll never have this problem again. The fact that the cable wasn't in the clips certainly didn't help you any in trying to find the damn thing.

That quick-release setup is sure slicker (well, when its done right at the factory, not like the OP's setup) than the 1600 with its two screws. Hopefully they've also improved the passenger seat so you don't have that back screw that lay partially underneath the seat and is a b**ch to get to.
