Is this the same as the BC video for installing hogslayers? What do you have to loosen and/or remove to replace the cat with a crossover?

Remove the shields via 2 screw clamps on each one. Loosen the 2 bolt clamps on each side that clamp the cat to the header on one side and muffler on the other. Remove the muffler mount bolt at the rear. Pull off the muffs. remove the bolt on the left side of the cat. Then to be able to pull the cat off you'll need to remove the left side frame member that holds the muffler mount and the passenger peg. The reason is on that side the cat is attached to it via about a round 1" long tube that slips over a peg on that frame member. Try and pull the cat rearward to remove it off of the headers and it won't go back because it's pegged to that frame member. So pull that member off via 2 bolts and pull it out to the left so the cat is free to be pulled back.

Oh, and i hope you like LOUD ! (i don't, at least not that loud)

Thanks for the lesson. I'm hesitant about doing anything because the bike runs really well now. It also sounds great.

Then by all means, leave it alone ! You know the old saying, "if it ain't broke....". But in time if you feel the need then go for it. I forget tho....what are you running? I remember i sent you a tune but i can't recall which. If it was the Dizze WITH cat tune that may running that. But i believe it was the catless tune so i assume you are running the stock 1700 tors map, yes?

I'm running the stock 1700 TOR map. If I decide to fool around before going for the crossover, I would load the Dizze with cat map. I also have the Dizze w/o cat map.

However, I'm freaked about TuneECU because some people report that it fails during loading a tune. I never had an issue with Tuneboy, all fuses in, headlights on, connected to Battery Tender - it never locked up. I like to experiment but I don't want to f**k this bike up.

I've used tuneecu for a couple years or so now and it has only failed while loading a tune twice, once just the other day coincidentally. And when it does all you do is try again and all is fine. The myth about failed downloads disabling the ecu in any was is BS. When we 1st started using tuneecu dizze stopped his in the middle of a download on purpose to see if it would be recoverable. I have yet to hear of anyone having a problem due to a failed DL or anything else other than some tiger owners with new models with the lockout ECU.

So, do you remove the headlight fuse?

Nope, never have except once when i read the tune in the bike. That takes a while. If i recall about 10 or 15 minutes. Certainly not the 20 seconds it takes to load one.

Ok. I'm sure curiosity will get the better of me sooner than later.

It takes all of 2 minutes to load dizze's WITH cat map. Why not? You can always change back in 2 more minutes.

I always had problems with the tuneboy cable drivers. Part of the problem was that newer versions of Tuneboy didn't work the same with the original cable with different OS's. I believe I've got the correct ftdi drivers configured properly on my new windows 7 laptop. I guess the worst that can happen is it won't connect.

I see that Dizze's tune is richer than stock in the peak torque range.

I'll probably do that this weekend. I was listening to clips of different exhausts. The Dave Platt mufflers and crossover sound pretty good - deep and loud. The TORs with Platt crossover not so much. Kind of tinny.
