| | Posted : 09 Sep 2012 - 20:29 Post title : How to retain your side cover against loss or theft | | | As we all know ,the side covers are very expensive for the Thunderbird,I have come up with a quick solution to guard against accidental loss ( blown off in the wind) or theft. When you pop the sidecover off there is a slot at the base of the retaining plug that clips into the rubber grommet type thing,you just thread a black zip tie through the slot and around the frame tube ,tighten it up untill it has enough play to slide up and down the frame tube when off ,cut off the excess ,re-install and your finished.The photo shows the slot at the pencil point,all up will take you about 1 minute each side and you no longer have to worry about losing one.

I could just drill one, but that seems odd that yours would and mine wouldn't. The post has the rectangular recess in it, but no hole thru it.
