Actually that makes a lot of sense if you are halfway interested in the 100cc bump. The majority of the 12k work is done during the bb install anyway. Save money get a more powerful bike, what's not to like. (of course this is the same logic that allows my wife to 'save' so much money on her shoe purchases, so.....

yep. there's very little left of the service to do. i know the head mechanic there. a top bloke & very well respected within the triumph company. it started off by me asking if the conversion was woth it. his reply being 'kinell yeah was all i needed.
getting it done the week before dent so it'll get a good try out

I ordered my BB conversion way back in February and am STILL waiting. The local dealer's excuse is that parts aren't available at the factory -BOLLOCKS!

The Storm is still in production, so where's my fucking BB kit?

according to the chap the only part missing from the kit is the "104" clutch cover, which i'm not interested in anyway. I'm English , if it said 1700 maybe. i forgot to add booked in providing they can get the kit.

Oh it's more than worth it if you've got any lead left in your pencil. The bike has a completely different attitude with the extra 100cc. The tone is better, the power is better, hell the idle is even better. Does it turn the bike into a sport bike? Well, no.... but the bird at 1600 seems 'almost there'. The bird at 1700 has arrived. (still doesn't mean you don't want more though )

Could be worse. I ordered my BB kit when I bought the bike back in April of 2009, took delivery in June and waited till I think December till they finally had them available. I might be off a bit on the months, but it took a while.

Interesting comment on the 1700 vs 104. First off I thought they had the 1700 cover for you weirdo metric types as standard. I'm surprised they hand out the 104 over here. But, on a more conceptual basis... strangely I like CC up to just a hair over 1000cc as it just seems right but above that I find CC gets a bit ridiculous looking and much prefer the CI numbers after that. I've got no logic to back that up, just what seems right. Odd how we form these meaning to something as non-partisan as a measurement system though.

I am sure that you have the choice on ordering - 1700cc cover or 104 watsits. I much prefer the Tbird cover. I get a lot of people asking if the bike is 900 or 1100 - I just say 'nah, its a mans bike'.

Myself I prefer the 104 cover simply because all the harley guys now ride around with their 103 covers, lol.

I chose to leave my BB clutch cover off as not to advertise the girth of the cylinders. It is a sleeper...

Same here, I run it clean. Keep meaning to do something interesting with my 104 plate but haven't come up with anything yet.

Just for shits i tell HD guys when I blow their doors off that it is a 98 (1600) stock motor. You should see their expression when they have the 103 plastered on the side of their bike and they think a 98 whipped them that bad. Poor fellas

Get the right tune and watch the fuel needle go down and the speedo needle go up in exact oposites lol.

I don't think that's a far strtch what you're telling them..... I'm pretty sure the stock 98 ci would still whip the HD 103

You should have ordered it off Ebay, you would have already had it. Probably cheaper also. You can try Hermy's. Dean is great about getting parts.

I'm with Thatch, pretty smart actually. It's saves you quite a bit in the long run. Way to go, you'll like it.
