I have been a member of the Patriot Guard (www.patriotguard.org) for about a year now, due to most of the funerals/missions being during the week and me having to work, I have not been able to go, until yesterday.

Since it was to be a nice non-rainy day, My brother and I decided to play hookie from work and go on a mission. This one about 16 riders met up and rode 60 miles in fairly tight staggered formation to the funeral in Newport WA. then we all stood with flags to honor the Veteran that the funeral was for.

It was absolutely incredible to ride with that many bikes with most flying flags, it was almost hypnotizing watching those flags fluttering ahead of me, then we stood for about an hour in front of the Church in a flag line, A lot of the family were taking pictures and thanking us. For those that don't know, part of the reason the PGR goes to these funerals is to stand guard and act as a buffer in case there are groups that decide they need to "demonstrate" at these funerals.

It was sobering and an honor to be a part of this.

Good show, RedBird! I'm sure it was most appreciated by the family and friends. I've had the dubious honor of being the escort officer for those stricken in action and I know how much even small symbols can mean to loved ones at times like these.

Thank you!! I know I will be trying to go on more of the missions now, the Vets deserve a dignified funeral service to honor their sacrifice, small sacrifice for me to help make sure that happens.
