Ive been looking for a full sized lift table. I have just gotten tired of getting bikes on/off the wooden table. and my small Craftsman lift I have is fine for dirt bikes but I feel like I'm balancing anything bigger than that. I also have bikes that don't lend themselves to being lifted using that type of jack (full fairings, exhaust running under the engine, etc). So i decided that what i have wanted all along is a real table lift. Of course pro grade lift tables are expensive and I suspect would be overkill for me. The T Bird is the biggest bike I own (or hope to own) so I'm thinking that a 1000lb capacity should be enough.

In short I am considering this "Black Widow" motorcycle lift.....despite the advertising. It seems to me, theoretically of course that it would suit my needs and is financially easier to swallow. At around $1100-1200 fully loaded with toys and delivered ( that's about $300 of it) it seems like good value. But I DON'T want to buy junk either. I would rather wait and save a few more pennies until i can get something worth owning.

So does anyone have a lift now and has things I should consider or look out for when buying a lift. Or better yet does any one have or know anyone who has one of these or a comparable model that they would recommend? Any opinions/suggestions would be appreciated as the only folks who I know that have lift tables make their livings with them and as such they have spent small fortunes compared with what I hope to spend on one.

Here's the link I was looking at ......

I want one, thats a nice looking lift. Sorry I don't know more about them though. I think as long as it has the lifting capacity and looks sturdy it would be good.

Have changed my mind on the lift and just ordered this one instead.
in Gray and black instead of the HD themed Orange and black

Don't know if you can get them in OZ. but i would see if there is a company there who make them. Shipping from Indiana to Maine ran around $300, so I'm guessing shipping to OZ would cost more than the lift.

I don't have one of these but Fowlers of Bristol use 3 or 4 of these in the showroom to raise bikes up so people can get a better view, they certainly look sturdy enough as I often see people give them a bit of a shake to test for stability. The only downside I can see is the lifting arn is in the way on the right hand side (as in the picture) and the side stand is used to secure the bike by using a steel clamp on it (but a piece of rag or leather would prevent scratching of the chrome).

Mick . . . Keep the rubber side down!!

Woody, I have one of these that I used on my Honda Phantom although mine is RED!
Works quite well, but I am going for a Harbor Freight table lift for $299.00 on sale if you have the coupon.

It has to be foot operated, but works fine. They also have a air/hydraulic version that is much more expensive.
But no more than I use one it would work fine for me!

I don't have any personal experience with the harbor freight lifts but was warned about the bolts they use not being the proper grade. I was also told they worked well.......once you replaced all the bolts.

Like I said I don't have any first hand account but thought i would pass along the warning I was given.

--DC--

Edit: although at 299 you would have the $ to replace the bolts.

I guess they must have done something about it already! Although I don't own one yet a friend of mine has had one for about a year and a half with no know bolt problems. He uses his a lot, he has three bikes!

As soon as I sell the RED one that I have I am getting the $299.00 one!

Glad to hear it.......I hate the idea of anyone's bike falling off a lift.
