Ok, I was under the impression that the difference between the tbird and the storm was simply the factory fitted BB kit, the blacked out cases and other bits, the handle bars and the goofy headlights but it was mentioned other places that the suspension is different as well? Is that correct? If so what is different exactly? And for the benefit of others considering which one to get, what is the full list of things that are different from tbird to storm?

As the bike is the same weight I would imagine the boingy bits are the same - apart from , like woody said, thew colour) I have looked over the Storm several times and not seen any differeance in any casting etc.

Well that is what I had assumed, still do. I just saw a comment by someone that mentioned the suspension being different. (of course I can't find the comment now) It made me wonder if there might be some other items that are different that aren't commonly known. Since we have a number of tbird moved to storm owners here I thought they might be able to enlighten us if there were such things.

I did notice, when I rode one, that the front end seemed lighter easier to steer. Maybe something to to with the bars. Which is why I am looking at putting some Storm bars on my ride. I do prefer the storm position.

The bars are wider arnt they Matt? That would give the impression of lighter stearing I guess.

I rode a Storm last September at one of the final US Triumph truck demos. The suspension seemed pretty firm to me So I asked if the Storm had sportier suspension and the triumph factory staff person said it was. I don't know if that's true or not.

Mat, If you are going to put storm bars on you will need higher risers too ( I used rivco ) or you wont get the bars down low enough to look and feel comfortable without hitting the tank. Wal.

I own a Storm and would be just as confused as Thatch. To the best of my knowledge, just color, bars, BB kit, lights, wheels. There's that whole discussion surrounding the cam profiles but I don't think that's what you mean. My understanding was that everything else was the same. That said, when my 2810s get here I'll have all new suspension anyways.

Ahh..... yes - never thought of that May make myself some custom risers and get it spot on.

Cheers for the heads up.

Mat, The brake line is another issue once you put higher risers on ,but I got around that buy moving the banjo bolt on the master cylinder to the other side of the little lug, though it pokes forward it gives you more slack in the line to play with and longer lines would be the way to go if you decided to keep the bars on but that would depend a bit on how high you go with the risers I guess. I didn't like the bars myself so took them off (pm me if you are interested in them) but have kept the risers on,so I'am looking at longer brake lines myself. There is a thread in the accessories section by stevew about this subject that may help you too. Wal.

Mat
FYI, the standard ABS front brake line is 46" to the banjo eyes using my best measuring device (I run a line along it's length) so you should be able to get lines to fit, I have a quote from Hel at £29 for a 49" line posted.
I dont know what a non ABS model would be. hope this helps.

Mat, during the ride home from the flocking ,Rocket(Storm) and I(Tbird with Tbars) stood our bikes side by side and although we didn't have a tape there didn't seem to be much difference in bar position. Storm may have been a bit closer to the rider if anything.

Take into account that I have Ikon fork springs and shocks, but our footpegs looked pretty close as well Also he scrapes much more than I do, so f33ked if I know.
