Yes indeed! Hello to you all...cracking me up reading back a few (hundred) threads. It's nice to see a bunch of guys who actually have some fun in these forums. They can really get sideways fast I have found over the years (or just boring and too full of themselves).

I sent narsisco a PM before posting publicly as it really did feel odd being referred cryptically then working with key words to locate the po of that bike. I know it's a public forum, but still...just seemed like the right thing to do. Can't be coming across a s a stinkin stalker right out of the gates!

Yes - His bike looks nice but I doubt it is for me...especially after reading up on it!

I am a big lug over 6'1" and 260lbs so I am already worried a Storm (which is really what I set out to look at) is to small for me...so clearly I'd need to put diff seat on or go back over to have it re-worked.

I have my other bike set up as a touring rig...this is going to be a more around town/fun/commuter scoot that I can tinker with of course and keep in a basically stripped-down mode.

Fear-not narscisco...IF I ended up buying it, it would be in a good home...and I ride through Golden about 3x/week!

Hope to have a Triumph soon and see you all around here (I've owned many, many bikes and cars over the past 30 years but never a Triumph).

Glad you posted and exposed yourself (to our collective ridicule!) rather than to continue lurking

Seriously, welcome to the madhouse... it's a lot of fun up in these parts.

As I mentioned in my reply PM, don't let your size put you off the Thunderbird (Storm, my old bike, or otherwise). If Thatch can ride it comfortably, then so can you. All the talk and forum guff in the world can't replace a test-ride. The fun factor on this bike has to be felt in the saddle. Once you twist the throttle (even on the 1600), you'll be hooked. IMO, there isn't another cruiser in its price-point that comes CLOSE to the Thunderbird's performance... in a straight line or in the mountain twisties. The biggest problem will be scraping the shit-eating grin off of your face after a ride so your spouse or significant other doesn't think you're having an affair!

And don't be put off by the "Alien Queen" Contraband (or derogatory comments made about her) on my old bike... while spendy, it really adds a whole new dimension to the Thunderbird's high speed performance characteristics. I can vouch for this first-hand.

Welcome!!

Thatch is our resident sasquatch. He is in the neighborhood of 6'6" 6'7" and he does not have issues. But, he will have to elaborate.

Again, welcome.

Since this has been such a unique little experience, here's a flash update from the streets...

I showed-up to ride david's ex-bike and the dealer was sweating a guy making the deal to buy it...good for them I guess.

I had the complete inside line...but it's a great bike and they are clearly getting some action (on the bike, of course)...and I would have tried to go around them.

It was SOOO tempting to tell the buyer everything I had learned, but I didn't. That would have felt really slimy and would have blown their deal in-hand...the buyer was a grown-up so there ya go.

Thanks again david!!

Now to figure out what to pay for the 2012 Storm...loved that thing.

Out.

Steve texted me the update on the guy making a deal on my bike. To be honest about it, I'm glad someone's gonna get it off the lot and ride it. With our home remodel project getting ready to start, the last thing I really need right now is the temptation to go buy it... and having it sitting lonely on the dealer's lot was a serious temptation.

I guess we'll see if the new owner (if he bought it today) shows up here asking questions!

Well, the bike is no longer on their website, so I'm assuming that means it sold today. Again... let's see if the new owner shows up as a new member in this wonderful (wacky) forum.

So does this mean if I get a Storm, I no longer have relevance in this group? I'll be tossed aside like the true interloper that I am (was)? Ha.

It's going to be mid-upper 70's all weekend. Crazy weather this year on the Front Range.

Have fun out there...

I would stick my neck out and say all riders really have a relevance in this group even if you buy a Storm . Rember a Storm wont go as fast as a blue and white with BB kit. Something Sean said today over breakfast. "The TB1600 forum, it's amasing how a realativly small group starts from nothing and builds into a great comunity that like to meet each other and form friendships."

Or something like that lol . Maybe he was saying Druid your a total tossa, but I couldnt catch it propperly as he was chewing on his sausage

Yes, but David, there's a secret counter that was started when you sold your Bird. When you hit the magic number (unless you buy another Bird) you will be forever forwarded to the Rat site as your punishment just like when Spock jettisoned young Kirk out of the Enterprise (sorry, had to keep the scifi thing going)
