| | Posted : 18 Mar 2012 - 00:04 Post title : MAP sensor hose elbow | | | The MAP sensor hose has a sensitive elbow. The hose assembly is a friction fit - as most of us know by now, particularly if we've been lucky enough to have one pop off in the middle of a ride. Well, at the elbow it is possible to push the hose in too far. the end of the ose trikes the wall at the 90 degree bend and closes off. This causes the MAP sensor to get an erroneous reading - it does NOT trigger the engine light like the loose hose does. It runs - it runs rich as the dickens, and twice as stinky.
I took delivery of my bird after her 12,000 mile service, and I knew when I first thumbed the starter she was ailing. I had every name in the book set aside for the dealer, but it turned out I didn't have to break 'em out. They took good care of me and I didn't lose a single opportunity to ride. And we all learned something, so all is good.
Cheers, tomorrow's supposed to be sunny and warm --
