After twisting an arm, which twisted yet another arm we have got official permission to use the TRIUMPH logo in our patch design (which we will be redoing again).
We went "by the book" as we thought it appropriate we include the TRIUMPH brand logo along with the Thunderbird logo unless of course it becomes too "busy" (we want to keep the design relatively simple).
If so we'll not use it but liked the idea of having the option.

I say: HOW THE BLOODY HELL DID YOU GET THAT PERMISSION!?

I wanted to use the Triumph Logo on the BA Euro Rally shirt.... It ended up with me going through legal departments and having a 600 UK Pound bill pushed in my face!!!

Dear Mr Fielding

We have received your email and will obviously need to discuss this with our client (subject to the following requests for information and confirmation).

In the meantime, please provide us with your correspondence address, and also confirm that you will be responsible for our fees in dealing with this matter. If consent is simply provided, or refused, these should be in the region of £300. If, however, we have to exchange in correspondence regarding possible conditions of any use (and we do not know if our client will insist on any) then these could be in the region of £600.

You will also need to provide further information on:

1. What this event this about, and how many participants expected?
2. How many t-shirts you intend printing/selling, and at what price and to whom would they be offered for sale?
3. Who Spreadshirt are and what is their involvement with this proposal?

Clearly, you should NOT proceed with anything regarding this until you have our client's response.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

John Peacock

I'll think of something you'll want from me - then I'll name my price

I made a RAT Pack patch for our Pack here at Moto91:

Design:

Muster Patch:

Hope to have the final ones by the end of next week...

But it would have been better with the full Triumph logo....

EDIT:
Found some images of that £600 Tshirt ........
Here's the Artwork I wanted on the Tshirt:

Here's a mock up:

That there 'Triumph' writing was a NO GO!!!
You need written permission - although it's a NONE COMMERCIAL, SMALL NUMBER PRINT, MEMORIAL TSHIRT ! ! !

So I MIGHT be doing something simple like this:

And now I'm working on a Thunderbird shirt for myself....

Excellent work Birdy, great looking T's and patch.

I didn't get formal permission but an informal nod and a wink worked when doing the tour shirts last year (and before that).

I'm quite partial to the Triumph brand logo and think if WWW.Thunderbird1600.com is written on the patch, we possibly don't need the TB logo.

Just my opinion and I realise that I was born without the "Art Gene" that many seem to posses.

Any chance of a sneak peek at the earlier designs. If they come up to Birdies standards I think we all would be very happy.

Regards Frank

We have actually made the t-bird logo a "must" within the brief. We didn't think it should be without it.

Frank, even I haven't got a clue what they look like. Kathy will not let me see them until completed.
I say "they" because she is toying with 2 designs and expects to present them within the next week or 2.
My understanding is that one is a bit elaborate and the other simple (my wild guess is we'll probably end up with the simpler one).
We'll just have to be patient. Sorry

Teaser!

I've just had a glimpse of a very rough sketch of the official site patch Kathy is playing with.

Whether one likes it or not there is no disputing it is unique in itself as well as unique to the Thunderbird.

That's all I'm saying.

Speaking of " RAT " logos.

I saw a "RAT" logo that had a "cool" looking rat with a leather riding jacket and sunglasses leaning up against a Triumph logo a while back.

Does anyone know which one I'm referring to?

I want to come up with a different one for our "RAT" club that doesn't use the common " RAT FINK" Rat...

Well we went for just the 'T' symbol.
Apparently Triumph is not supporting the RAT groups any more - from what I heard from our RAT leader. Or maybe that's just Europe?

I only know that this year - 2012 - Triumph has not supplied the patches and have requested that the Group leaders make new designs that do NOT include a rat!!!
Ivo - our leader, thinks that Triumph are trying to 'clean' up their image and get away from being associated with a rodent!?
I can only see that Triumph have their Trademark copyrights on 'Rider Association of Triumph' labelling until 21/12/2018...

Who knows - maybe Triumph want to have TRA's (Triumph Riders Association) in the future!?
Here you have the link to Trademarks and Copyrights:
The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) - The Trademarks and Design Registration Office
It would be a shame as I like to ask at the weekends where the other 'rats' are....

Anyways - we decided that we would go with the KISS (Keep It Simple & Sexy :-)

Here they are - RAT Patches from Pack91, Hoeri Switzerland!

We can probably cut down on the freight (fright) by getting a bulk shipment - then sub-shipment.

When and if they get done, why don't we in gods own country do that.

Magpie hasn't done much lately - lets get him to organise!

GerryD01,

My apologies but I must have missed your post.

We will advise costs when we get to production point.

With the kind help of a valued member here, we have devised a simple method for ordering and distribution, thus avoiding any fiasco with the P.O.

Will fill you all in with the details, nearer to the time.
