| | Posted : 09 Mar 2012 - 14:59 Post title : Motorcycle lifts | | | Ok, so I'm getting a bit tired of jerry-rigging a set up each time I want to lift the bike, so I'm looking for a purpose built solution. I don't have room for a big table lift and even if I did I can't get one shipped to me here from the states so I'd have to bite the bullet and pay Euro prices and the prices for table lifts here are ... well, enough to keep me jerry-rigging.
I've seen the floor jack mods but since I'm having to buy one anyway I'd like to find one that I don't actually have to mod from the get go. So, what solutions are out there? Which ones do you think would work the best at a reasonable price (I know reasonable is in the wallet of the beholder but...).
I did find this one while I was poking around...
Which looks great but I'm suspecting it's a bit pricey. (no idea at this point) Doesn't seem to actually be available yet.

I don't think that these are a bike lift at all . I'm guessing that they are a catapult used for hurling useless bikes at the enemy . Note how they come loaded with some free ammunition

You could build a nice halo frame and use heavy duty lifting straps. Dont forget to pin it to the forks and use timbers under the forks for safety.

Anyways my $100 chinese bike jack with a bit of 1/2" ply lifting up on the sump works pretty good.

I figure if I'm going to buy one I might as well get one that's fit properly. I've had about enough tenuous lifting solutions. Agreed that the one above is probably uber pricey, but damn if it doesn't make nearly anything easy to work on ... well, accept near the mounting point that is.

I dont know if they do a fixing kit for the bird but it's worth a look.

I put a timber under the engine and one under the forks to tie the bike to. It was as safe as a steak at a veggie party.
