Ok, so I'm getting a bit tired of jerry-rigging a set up each time I want to lift the bike, so I'm looking for a purpose built solution. I don't have room for a big table lift and even if I did I can't get one shipped to me here from the states so I'd have to bite the bullet and pay Euro prices and the prices for table lifts here are ... well, enough to keep me jerry-rigging.

I've seen the floor jack mods but since I'm having to buy one anyway I'd like to find one that I don't actually have to mod from the get go. So, what solutions are out there? Which ones do you think would work the best at a reasonable price (I know reasonable is in the wallet of the beholder but...).

I did find this one while I was poking around...

Which looks great but I'm suspecting it's a bit pricey. (no idea at this point) Doesn't seem to actually be available yet.

Jeez Thatch where can I get me one of those?

It would be worth a few drinking vouchers extra for something like that .

Very nice. Bet it costs a fortune.

I am thinking of adapting my folklift truck to lift the bird. It has a 5 metre lift range - well enough.

I don't think that these are a bike lift at all . I'm guessing that they are a catapult used for hurling useless bikes at the enemy . Note how they come loaded with some free ammunition

Go on line and punch in "motorcycle lifts" to see what's available and how much.Myself,I bought a Pit Bull MC lift which works pretty well on everything I've used it on,so far.lol But like anything else, there is no perfect lift built to fit every MC model made, so ya still have to use alittle ingenuity to adapt for the different lift points, unless you buy a lift made specifically for your machine.Dave!!!

You could build a nice halo frame and use heavy duty lifting straps. Dont forget to pin it to the forks and use timbers under the forks for safety.

I was thinking of lifting from undernieth, like a cruiser lift. Seems daft not to use it.

I never thought of having sex with a bike, even though I do cuddle mine on those cold days.......

Anyways my $100 chinese bike jack with a bit of 1/2" ply lifting up on the sump works pretty good.

Well my hope is to find a purpose built (or purpose built adapters) lift for the bike if possible. I figure if I'm going to buy one I might as well get one that's fit properly. I've had about enough tenuous lifting solutions. Agreed that the one above is probably uber pricey, but damn if it doesn't make nearly anything easy to work on ... well, accept near the mounting point that is.

Thatch have you had a look at the abba stand, it's not a lift as such but can get both wheels off the ground for cleaning, changing and it's not too expensive. I dont know if they do a fixing kit for the bird but it's worth a look.

I've got one of the abba stands.
Used it once will never try and lift the bird up on it again. Tried it with the proper lifting kit and the kit to lift from the passenger pegs. It does not feel safe at all.

I saw these at a recent bike show, pretty simple and they come with brackets for the bird, he had photos there that he could email you.

2.5 litre diesel 2.5 Ton 5 metre lft fully hydraulic Bird lift, with 3 ton counterbalance weight

-- who's the daddy.

Luckily Firebird dropped his Bird in for a Tyre swap and quick service so I tried my lift out on his bike

OK, i'll take one, (it does include delivery). Only wanted to spend £60 or so but with an offer like this I can go a little higher.

Hello Jihend,
sorry but do you feel that the original lifting stand that lifts on the passenger footpegs feels unsafe? Or was it the ABBA that felt unsafe?

Nice You don't even have to bend over to change the filter or pull the oil plug. I prefer a Hyster myself but this will do the job just as well. Plus it has multiple usage also.

Sigh! We have two forklifts where I work and I've never thought this... It seems I keep work and off-work separated pretty well... Mat, Did you have some 'pad' or plate on forks to support the bottom of the engine or did you just drove the forks under and lift?

I put a timber under the engine and one under the forks to tie the bike to. It was as safe as a steak at a veggie party.

Good one Mat, I've got a Toyota in my workshop, I just can't bring myself to take the bird to work , just seems to dampen the enjoyment. Maybe the shop needs a new forklift and I can sneek the old one off the books and bring it home.

Sometimes taking the Bird to work is the only enjoyment.

It wasn't my Bird - was just doing a quick service and tyre change on Firebirds bike.

The forklift is really good for getting under the Bird - I am going to make a lifting fixture to fit to the bike first to make it even easier.
