Just a thought I had when looking at a Rocket - It's rear light is nicer looking than the Thunderbird, it has a flashy chrome surround. Has anyone been tempted to fit one to the 'Bird?

Well, I'm allergic to chrome so it never crossed my mind. However, I did some quick looking at the parts diagram and found some issues with doing this so, I put the images side by side to show you.

The first issue is the profile of the light. There is a bit more of a three dimentional curve to the rocket light, The bird light is flatter. The bolt pattern though it is a 2 high 1 low setup appears to show the rocket with much closer spaced bolts. Finally there is depth to the rocket light that doesn't exist with the bird and having had the rear fender stripped down on my bike I can attest that there is no room for that without cutting the fender.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and I found this pic of the rocket fender.

There is nowhere near that sort of room in the tbird fender.

There may also be a problem with the wiring, the rocket uses a conventional bulb whereas the bird uses an led set up which may require a change to the loom.

Mick . . . Keep the rubber side down!!

I added this string last month in the accessories section ... Perhaps we could have a sticky in either the Lounge or Accessories section for other bits that fit our bikes ?

Other Hinckley parts that fit our Thunderbirds ... ?

A few people on here have gone for Rocket tank badges, or a Speedy headlight and in my case Bonnie handlebars, ... what else in the range (or elsewhere) is compatible ? ...
I was looking at the Rocket 3 rear light with the nice chrome surround and wondered whether it would fit mine , looks similar shape (in pictures) , similar size etc. ...... anyone know if this would fit ?
