I was checking something on the Triumph parts microfiche page Link before refitting my rear mudguard and I noticed a part called a baffle rubber (part 22) I don't recall removing this and can't see what it refers to, am I missing something or missing something obvious ?

It's a thin piece of black rubber. It just serves to protect the seat baffle. The illustration isn't great but you can almost see things in this picture..

It's just below this, that hook at the very bottome of the picture has two holes in it and the part in question has two nylon pins that stick into holes on that hook and the part.

Sorry I don't have an actual picture, that was as close as I could find on short notice. If I find another I'll put it up here.

***EDIT***

Here is another pic, shows it better.. (well, it actually shows it)

You can see it's kind of a strange deal, it is pinned on top, then goes down along the fender and back up under the frame. Seems like it would be more protection when putting the thing together than doing much once it's running... but I never paid it too much attention.

Thanks Thatch, is it the piece I've marked with blue arrows ?

I don't remember having one of those, or taking it off , ... it definitely isn't in my pile of pieces

Cheers

That's the one. (sorry just used an old pic of Birdy's that he was using to point out something else)

I didn't honestly see that it did all that much to protect anything personally, but I didn't pay that much attention when I was taking it all apart. The nylon pins that hold it in are just expanding push pins. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out on their own at some point.

But, if you are of such a mind looks like it's all of $12.00 plus a buck a piece for each pin ...

oooh thats interesting

i had one on the 09 1600 but i didnt notice a lack of it on my storm when fixing leads to the battery on saturday.
however if removed spray from the back wheel can splash all over your battery

now im wondering what they have in place of it on later models

something to investigate

It looks as though it has been replaced by an all in one complete plastic moulded section between the back wheel/mudguard space and the battery. I'll try and post a picture later.

YES - It's the 'To Be Released - British Customs (BC) Air-Filter Removal Kit'.

Unfortunatly it's on someone elses Bird at the moment and not mine....
Mines the one with the Green airfilter... it's the normal ari-filter set-up (at the moment...).
