And it was replaced with that cheap piece of plastic crap you speak of. So I asked if I could keep the old one so I can re-chrome it myself to which they replied yes as long as I don't sell it on ebay?????? So it is in getting re-chromed as we speak.
Doesn't it piss you off when they start using cheap shit as replacement parts.

I've been adding chrome, and was going to add the chrome swing arm cover and lower belt cover when I changed the rear tire. Now I want to know if they are metal or plastic before I spend more money.

I think they are going that route to a degree. I believe the fenders on the new Bonnevilles have switched to plastic as well

DING DING DING ....
Exactly. If Triumph wants to be seen as a legitimate player against HD and Victory (and why aim to compete against the jap bikes????) in the up market cruiser game they are shooting themselves in the foot by going plastic. That crowd expects solid well built METAL bikes and while I don't share a lot with Harley shoppers, I'm right with them on that point. I can say this, if it is the case that they are going to plastic to a greater degree this will be the last cruiser or classic I buy from Triumph. I will not pay top money for a plastic cruiser; sport bike, tourer or dual sport, sure... cruiser or classic? Hell no. I might could over look the console IF I already had initial plans to relocate the dial and smooth over the tank. I won't over look a plastic fender on a cruiser.
This is very disappointing Triumph

I can overlook the console the same way I can overlook the plastic side pieces (although I'm not sure why), but I found the switch to plastic fenders on the classic twins a strange move and it does worry me that this change will make its way to the Tbird and R3.

Yeah I really can't stand plastic fenders, They are almost always sort of bulky and lack any subtly to their shape because they need the bulk to keep their shape... But, plastic chrome is really horrible. I guess it's that it's 'fake metal' that gets to me. The side panels...well, it would be nice if they were metal but as they don't pretend to be metal and they are taken on and off as often as they are plastic makes begrudging sense. But glueing chrome crap on a bit of plastic and pretending it's metal just doesn't sit well. That and if you want to paint plastic it never looks the same as a metal piece the finishes just seem to work differently on them.

Need a stronger deterant for these thieving Gypos... Cause thats who many of the theiving bastards are.. Confiscate their ruddy caravans and sell them on for scrap.
Hate the bastards and their friggy Gyppy Ruddy Weddings the non tax paying scum
The bastards broke into my garage many years back when Northampton way. All the Police could say was "Gypsies are back in the area. Not a lot we can do about it..

But ! .. where I'm shocked is when I started dismantling the dash to fit the visor ( real men don't need instructions !! ) I soon realised that it doesnt fit inside like you might expect ( like indicator and headlamp visors ) but ... YOU HAVE TO STICK IT ON !!
Nearly £30 for a stick on part !!!!
