Just installed the Triumph Performance Air Filter . I have removed the air direction vanes from under the seat . I have Short Tors .
The question is....have I been duped ?
Am I a victim of propaganda that says that this will make my bike breath better and run better ?
Please let me know if I have been had !

Jimbo,
The sorry thing is you are absolutely correct !
I managed to do all of the jobs and I am thinking that I am a bit like that old fishing joke...

I can confirm that the bike goes faster without the rubber seal. Ive tested it against my brothers TBird over 3 months and it does pull better . Once I took his seal off he could keep up with me . Its not huge but it does make a difference. The rest of it I dont know.

the way you ride rob, you could disconnect one of the cylinders and you wouldn't know any difference
to answer your question; they will make a difference but you need the right tune to get the most out of it.
just man up and get the BB kit

Jamie,
A man will never get a big head with mates like you blokes.
Just because I ride within the law , don't lob me with the lady riders.
I can't afford to do points or lose the license. I have to travel for a living.

You Realise Rob that you have gone about this completely arse about!

You should have stated emphatically that the improvement has been tremendous and inferred that anyone who hasn't done the same mod is a complete idiot.

That boosts your own ego, devastates those who haven't got the time/inclination/money to do the mod and makes people think that you are a decisive, and canny rider with a superior understanding of the workings of the internal combustion engine.

To admit that you may have been conned makes you just another mortal like the rest of us.

Regards Frank

Jamie,
I have to visit pubs and clubs for a living....
While I am in there I may as well have lunch...(burp)

Francis,
Who am I to lie and bullshit to such a learned and intelligent panel of experts like the blokes on this forum...
and yes.....I even include some of the Poms in that as well...
But only some of them.

Jimbo ,
I think it's past your bed time.

Rob do you mean the high flow, washable filter? I've had the short tors with the tune since new and recently had the filter done at the ten thou service, didn't notice any difference with the filter, and I haven't changed anything under the seat.

Lee,
Yeah mate , that's the one . I have a mate in the upholstery business, after I undid the seat , pulled out all the staples , undid the 1000 screws under the padding ,
chucked the air vane unit , he stapled it all up for me.
I have good wind now

Hmmm, I'm sure I've read somewhere here that you may lose some torque with that removed? Did your dealer do the tune for the tors?

Lee ,
I had trouble starting the bike when I bought it. The dealer downloaded the short tor tune for me while I still had the stock pipes on.
Fixed the starting problem.
Now I have the short tors , so the tune should be OK.
SteveW has also ripped out the air vane and altered his exhaust.....Steve , what do you think ?

you are going good with the ff filter and the shorties plus tune, some even decat

you didnt thave to rip off the seat underside as removing the rubber seal between that and the filter top seems to be just as effective, downside though is that some have found it runs too lean and causes more popping

if your worried about it popping excessively put the air ducts back on
or it running too lean run it around 70mph for 15 mins or so pull over and check your plug colour
