Too bad there aren't any Lowes' in Canada. I'll check at Home Depot and see if I can find an equivalent. 1 1/4" you say? That should be fairly common...

Home Depot, Ace Hardware, True Value, they too carry similar/same products. Yes, 1-1/4" fits perfectly. I'm sure most any home improvement centers where you may live would carry something like this. Not knowledgeable of any home centers outside the US. Sorry guys.

From all the posts about this subject, that would appear to be the standard. One bung on the clutch side. Mine is a 2012 and it only came with one (black rubber bung). Don't have to have anything there necessarily. Just looks better capped off to me. Your bike, your call if you know what I mean.

Just went and got a couple at Ace Hardware, $1.50 and 1 1/4" fit perfectly. Well see how long they stay in if we ever get riding weather.

Mine have been just fine. I ride almost every day since the weather hasn't been bad here in Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I doubt you'll have any problems at all. Even though they are stainless, I polished mine for giggles and sprayed a bit of clear poly just for to keep the looks a little longer.

Excellent, glad you found one. I suppose (assuming you mean Lowe's) I could have told you there are 31 locations in Canada to be exact. Didn't think about it at the time I read you're post.

They should be in any hardware store, they are used to plug holes in sinks etc.

When I asked my dealer, he told me that they come from the factory with only one frame plug - the one on the left. I was surprised, and started walking around the showroom, and sure enough all of the Thunderbirds in there only had one frame plug in the left side.

I'm still not sure if he was accurate, but heck if I know. All I know is I have never had on on the right side frame tube. Seems like you don't have one either!

Anyone know about this?

I just checked mine and sure enough, I have a black cap on the left and nothing on the right side! Wierd, I don't see the logic of caping only one side.
The right side is slightly more hidden (less visible) than the left, but still - make no sense to me to cover one and not the other.
I think I'll pick up a 11/4" cap at Lowe's and spray paint it black - maybe a couple while I'm at it.

My Bird came with two, one on each side. The service manual only shows one plug - left side (pg. 17.2) with no description, part number, nada, just drawn into exploded view where convenient. Have to believe they exist for appearance, being in a rather prominent place, which would suggest there should be two.

BTW: Enough thread there for a low-angle camera mount (somebody was looking for that) if you can get past the pipes.
