My daughter may be studying abroad in October for her second year in college & has chosen London. Me & my GF would love to visit there & also go to the Triumph factory, but I've heard the tours are booked, then heard there are no tours. I can't find any definite info online. Can anyone tell me if they have tours? Do I have to make a reservation? How far is the factory from london? Because we'll have to take a taxi for sure since you drive on the other side of the road & I'll kill us if I rent a car. lol
I also heard about a tour of the Cadbury chocolate factory? Also, do they have beer in england? hahaaa

There are tour but for organised groups (specific dealer and TOMCC events). Triumph Live is an event from 31st August to 1st September 2012 that includes a factory visit if you can manage that.

DON'T GET A TAXI FROM LONDON TO HINCKLEY UNLESS YOU ARE A ZILLONAIRE! Express train from Paddington (of Harry Potter and Paddington Bear fame) to Leicester and change to local train to Hinckley - small town so short walk or a less expensive taxi ride. Avoid peak times and it will be about £40/head (double if peak). And yes get yourself on the chocolate tour - pretty good if you like chocolate and not too far from Triumph.

London is a great city for a student - she'll have a great time!!

Found this on Triumph website under the FAQ section

Factory Tours
We are not currently offering tours of our Hinckley Factory, but hope to be able to reintroduce them in the future. Full details will be published on this website at the time they become available, or you could become one of the first to know by subscribing to our e-news.

We may be able to organise a flocking at the Ace cafe while you'r in London

Visiting London in early May and was planning on trying to get a tour. Spoke to the Aussie dealer development bloke at Triumph and he explained that there are new models on the production line, that why the tours are off for the time being.
I offered my services as a test rider but he didnt think that would help.
Ah well.

Don't believe all they tell you.

A horde of Speed Triples (MkI) has been accomodated to visit the factory of the 5th May. Approximately 30 of 80 currently on the road will be visiting. Story is that Triumph has been a little cagey about accomodating tours/visits as they're working on a secret project and that until that is out of the way no visits will be permitted.

So on that basis try later on. If they can allow 20-30 Speedies then I'm sure they'll accomodate some Thundies.

Unfortunately the only weekend booked through May and early June and it's the one that co-incides, So my Speedy won't be there.
A shame as I've spend the winter stripping her down and tidying the worst from many winters use.

Regards

If only I had a bigger garage

My wife and I visited London last September and in advance of the trip, contacted Triumph by email. We got the same message, that they are not currently doing factory tours. I understood from others on the New Bonneville web site that it was more about insurance and liability issues than anything else. Really too bad when you see the first rate tours that HD offers at both their York, PA and Kansas City, MO factories. They're a great sales pitch

Yeah, but how exciting is a tour of union workers banging rocks together trying to make a motorcycle?

You'll kill yourself when you see the meter for that taxi ride! Thats a bit like flying into New York to tour Harley in Milwaukee. England is smaller than the USA but.............. (Us Colonials are as bad as geography as we are at the rest of international travel.)
