I went to Lowes and picked up 2 of those round metal shelf supports, sitting on my bike I had my wife mark the spot on my kickstand where my foot falls to easily. Then drilled 2 slightly under sized holes, ground a divot on one side of the round supports for traction and pounded them in. Works AWESOME!

I'm so used to it now that finding a fix has been a pretty low priority, but this looks like a pretty simple solution. I was thinking of taking my 'Bird over to my friend's dad's place and having him take a look... he's a fabrication genius (builds custom V8 trikes in his spare time), so I thought he might weld me up a new arm or bend the existing one so it's a few CHs closer to me.

I have to stretch to raise mine too but I don't think your fix will work for mine with the floorboards.
Thanks,

I would fear it might give out. It may not, but instead of chancing that i'd be more inclined to put a hose clamp around it or some such thing and the screw part would act as those studs do. I don't have an issue with it myself, which is odd because i'm just 5'5". But what even weirder is the 856 cruisers ARE hard for me. The America loaner i rode today brought that all back....much worse stretch than the Tbird.
But anyways, if anyone needs to do this i'd suggest a hose clamp or some such thing. I believe they even have nice chrome ones without the perforations for custom cars where they show the engines off at car shows, and those would look much cleaner.

+1
I also found that my boots were getting cut-up when I was stretching to reach the stand and coming into contact with the sharp grounded ends of the hero studs on the bottom of the foot pegs!!!

Trust me I don't want my T'Bird hitting the ground. I've watched the pins for several months now and haven't seen any problems yet.
