Keep the engine size, but up the compression ratio so that we get a nice increase in power and torque. 130 hp and 170 Nm at the wheel.

And make it so that the older bikes can also get it - shouldn't be that hard to change pistons and combustion chamber while keeping the current layout.

small improvements to make the bike stand out more would be LED lights front and rear w/built in turn signals, 1700 BB kit as a standard, 220-240 rear tire, slightly narrower gas tank, and deeper more aggressive exhaust note. that to me would be the perfect bike.

I like your list but not sure about a fatter tire, not good for the twisties and eats up hp and torque...a Thunderbird strongpoint

maybe. at least 220. don't think it will make a significant difference in performance but it will look sick. not to change the subject but i had visited an HD dealership during lunch yesterday to get a closer look at the competition. Even though they did have some nice looking bikes, I honestly could not find a better overall package than my t-bird. comparable model bikes were nice but lacked some of the better quality components in their pegs, levers, lights, etc. performance wise they were a little weaker, and the prices were insane. Their leftover 2014 and 2015 models were starting at $17k, and this is during their clearance sale. when i got home that night i kissed my bike. thank you Triumph.

I have to agree that I got a lot of bike for the money with my Thunderbird. That said, I would prefer a skinnier rear tire just to increase tire choices. I guess you can't please everyone.
