Would a dealer be able to see how many tunes you've loaded with their software? For instance over a period of years you may have loaded several different tunes.
Does the ECM store that information?

So does it show the actual tune that was loaded, or just how may times tunes have been loaded.
For instance, let's say you've loaded the same tune on four different occasion. Would it list the same tune number, 20310 four times?

Thank you !

It will show the # of current tune loaded, and the number of tunes that have been loaded irrespective of how many times the same tune has been loaded. Number of tunes loaded is just that. It does not tell you which tune.

I have to ask but are you asking because you think it may be a warranty violation? will the dealer reject under warranty repairs because you uploaded your own tune?

i know this is a rather dumb question, and the official answer might be "yes, it will void warranty" but my BMW dealership did not care and I have always modified their maps.

also, where are you guys getting additional tunes? I had the TORs map uploaded when I swapped to the shorty TORs exhaust. I am now going to perform a cat bypass operation and was planning on modifying the tune, or uploading a new one, if the current TORs map isn't happy with the cat bypass.

Drod,
Gotta go to the "tunes" thread.

Most here use the TuneECU program. Just need a $10-20 cable from eBay, then load the appropriate tune for your setup(s).

Does the tunes work for the Commander or have they started locking them so only the dealer can add tunes?

I've just gone through this with my dealer. They can see how many tunes you have put through it. It's a computer, it keeps a log.

They blamed the failure of my ECU to me plugging new maps through via tuneecu. They say it's stuffed and I'm getting a new one through insurance.
My bike is still in the shop waiting on the parts from the UK.
When I get it back I'll be too scared to upload any maps.

That's funny (not). As Daz how many tunes he has loaded, reloaded, unloaded, then loaded again. All without any ECU failures, and all with at least 8000% improvement in power, torque, fuel mileage, reduced vibration and improved tire wear.

Just bustin' chops, Daz. But never heard of ANY vehicle ECU crapping out because of the # of tunes loaded.

These ham fisted knuckleheads are all the same. Kept trying to tell me the reason for decal pop is the TOR tune "because I reloaded it"
and the D & D pipes.
Even though the bike did the exact same thing with the TOR tune and Triumphs TOR pipes.

Basically they use these tactics because they don't want anyone doing their on maintenance. What dumbasses, don't they know we are Triumph guys.

I call bullshit on the dealer, the only thing they are telling the truth about it is in fact a computer. I have no idea how many times I reloaded my tunes before installing the PC V and AT300 but it was plenty. DAZ should have melted his ECU right out of his bike by now. Too many dealers are just lying bullshit artists. Can't make money the honest way so they have to lie.
