| | Posted : 25 Sep 2015 - 21:41 Post title : My New Storm | | | Well after a very sad moment seeing my trusty blue and white Tbird head off into the sunset with her new owner I had to head of to Greece to drink lots of beer, sit in the sun and watch a wedding all the time knowing my new bike is at the dealers ready for collection. Landed at midnight and by 0830 in the morning I was sat waiting for the dealer to open up. I had to order a new black Storm but get them to put the red tins on from a demo bike they had in. I was never going to be happy with the black and had considered putting my Blue and white tins on a new Storm, but as I had sold it that was not going to happen.
My phone camera does not bring out the metallic Lava red real well but in the flesh the bike looks stunning. I will get my big camera out some time and see if I can do a bit better.
All in all I am really pleased with it. It seems to run fine although I will only get to know if its good once I have run it in for 40K miles Its going to look like a bag of shit after next week when I will be covering 1500 miles around Scotland.
PS - the dart screen is off my old Tbird and I am just experimenting with it so I can get a screen made to suit, - that does what I need.

Speaking of colours, is this one a genuine factory colour or a "special" probably resprayed. I actually love it but it is too far away from me to look at.

Well its advertised as Lava red but Triumph have no code for it as it apparently is a special process to get it like it is.

The back rest is a Kuyakyn transformer backrest. The brackets are my design and manufacture - st/steel and quick release. I had the chrome stripped off the b/rest and powdercoated to match the bike. It also has an integrated rack that folds away when not in use - I don't really like the goth design but it is really useful.

I also have noticed how it handles corners better than the TBird - maybe down to the higher risers - or maybe just my last setup on the TBird.

Was never going to abandon the camp. I have tried lots of bikes out - and there are many I like - and others that the wife likes - but non of the others do everything that we both like. The TBird concept fits us both very well and we have spent many thousands of miles enjoying it. Its by no means the best bike in the world and likewise not the worst - but its the best for us....... actually, nothing comes close. Changing to the Storm is just a way to stay 1700, a sort of natural move without messing with BB conversion. I was more than happy with my last TBird and was not too bothered about changing it. A good deal was shoved in my face and I went for it.......... and happy with it.

I guess that's the same Lava red as used on my commander. It does look better in the flesh, it's quite hard to capture the colour on camera.
Nice choice.

I had them incorporate the genes and DNA from the blue and white paint. The red is just a clever optical illusion.

It's now got 1600 miles on it, but they were ok with that. They installed a new tune and it now runs far better, smoother and a lot quicker than before.
