Each time I get the opportunity to ride one of these things I bite their hand off. The pure engineering, wizardry, alchemy call it what you will, is mesmerising. You can have hours of fun just setting the thing up for your own abilities, likes, needs and wants. The LCD display is nothing short of brilliant. I spent two glorious hours hammering this beast around the Bucks countryside. The tacho readout changing from black to green when you've hit the optimum revs, then to amber and on to red as you charge into the danger zone. The bike goes ballistic at 8.5 grand (RPM) ... it's so quick your brain struggles to comprehend what's going on ... it's like the elongation of light emitting objects when you engage warp drive. The weight distribution indicator and braking power monitor make you drive harder to see what's going to happen as they rip through their display range. Then you turn it all off and 'by fuck' you've got the wildest critter imaginable trying to tear you limb from limb .... it's truly awesome. Just fanfuckintastic. It really is a whole different level of motorcycling. If you have a hankering for living on the edge ... go try one ... you'll be smitten.

Crap I thought I was reading a novel there for a second, was waiting for the next chapter!!! I sure have been tempted but I can't afford to own two bikes and the seating position on some of those would just kill me I am afraid...... but that Ducati Diavil ! yup maybe one day

You'd be surprised just how comfortable this bike is. I reckon I have at least a couple more nutter machines left in me. I did also spend even more time playing with an FJR1300AE ... all kinds of electronic gizmos plus auto suspension. Slick as a slick thing and very, very quick. I love days like this when its all about information gathering and learning.

Might be simpler to bypass buying either of those and go straight to this.

LOL! Pretty much every day for the past thirty years a lot of people, entities, organisations and administrations have been trying very hard to fit me up with one of those. I discovered a long time back that life's way too short not to go out and have fun the best way you know how. For me ... well I like to have at least one crazy arsed bike in the stable ... that means every now and then I get out there and 'considerately' go a rampaging. Always had sports bikes and this is possibly one of the best to be had at this moment ... I figure my fate is already writ large no matter what I'm doing or riding.

funny, the coffin is the very same reason I gave up riding sport bikes. Rode them for over 20 years. Did superbike school, amateur racing, and everything in between. Lost a few friends during that time. One can spend days arguing which type of bike (cruiser or sport bike) is more dangerous than the other. Yes it really comes down to the rider, and yes these bikes are super planted and cut through wind, but it's that very same reason most people ride them fast, and get into trouble.
These bikes brake well, lean well, and feel stable at higher speeds. And there's really no other way to ride them. That my friend, is the problem. Unless you're Rossi, most riders are never good enough to handle them, especially in real life conditions where you share the roads with others.

but after seeing the R1s I want to go back!
