Hi guys I have just thought I'd start a fresh post on this.

As a result of my bike being tipped over it is suffering from ECU issues.
The mechanics are telling me that the ECU has suffered damage that they can't reverse the problems. They say it's having timing issues and essentially the use of TuneECU is doing something that causes it to malfunction?
They have tried re-flashing it. And have said that if the ECU is buggered by the use of TunEECU it won't be covered by warranty and perhaps even insurance.
They say the ECU needs to be replaced.

Is this true?

Jesus barks
Sounds like a can of worms, what other damage has happened when the bike was tipped, sensors, crankcase etc.
Why is he adamant its tune ecu and what has actually gone wrong in the ecu to determine it's the tune you may be using or fault
Is it coding a vault thats saying ecu??
I rejected my first storm due to issues and fuck, it was a drawn out process, a lot of B/s from the stealer. Thank god for consumer law!!

There were no fault codes I think they are assuming that tuneecu was the culprit. Because they said it's not behaving correctly, think he said the timing is off and the adjustments it's meant to make are taking longer when it should be almost instantaneous. I need to clarify with them.
The tip over caused just minor scrapes but it failed to shut off immediately when tipped over.
I'm at a loss. They said one of the map sensors was loose. I really thought the bike would be more durable than this. Given that dirt bikes get dropped picked up and riden?

Did the bike start playing up once it had tipped or were you able to ride it? If so was it running eractically?

There have been a few TBirds dropped, but never had an issue with the ECU. Could you not remove the aftermarket tune, get it back to stock and then let them try.

My mate Bluenose dropped his at 50mph, it hurtled down the road, did a back flip, and ended up in a hedge bottom. The bike was fcked but we got it started and he rode home on it.

The bike played up straight away. I tried to ride it but would rev over 3k and stalled and fired up and the throttle was not responding properly. I had to open up to keep it going...
It sounded really sick

They're messing with you. Take your bike somewhere else. When you do don't mention tune ecu. A sensor has come off or broken somewhere. Or they could be loading an improper tune. The ecu is hardware. The program is software. Software can not change hardware.

tip over sensor should have shut down the engine instantly so if that failed the problem could be on them (warranty ) anyhow

Yep. Given the opportunity dealers will always point out something you did that caused the problem. My belt has the edge somewhet chewed up and when a triumph mech saw that i mentioned the alignment issues i and many others have had and told him mats adjusters helped. He then told me it was the adjusters that cause the belt to get chewed up, and get this.....after i told him the belt got like that BEFORE i put mats adjusters on he still kept insisting they were the cause ! These guys will give monkeys a run for thier money when it comes to low IQ.

what year is your bike? tuneecu should not do anything to the ecu, its properties are exactly the same as the dealer tools so has nothing to do with tune ecu. unless you tried with a newer bike.

I agree with the others and call bull shit on the dealer. There maybe something wrong, obviously but it isn't TuneECU that fucked with your ECU. You may have another sensor or wire of something that got damaged. Replace the Tip-Over sensor regardless. Then go through the harness and hoses inch by inch just to make sure nothing got sheared.

Yeah I agree too, tuneecu is software how can it cause problems. Isn't it simply just re flashing it? I hope the insurance assessor agrees to replace it. And I think they have no idea what they are doing. Peter Stevens are the major service centre in Adelaide for Triumph. They have had a bad reputation but I'm limited for choice in this small town.

There Idiots , and the reason theres not a t bird in my garage ,, I just don't want to deal with them ... The new management and shakeup was suppossed to sort out the bad name , and more importantly bad feeling that most have to towards them .. Personaly i think they have got worse , i just refuse to deal with them anymore , so much so that my last new purchase 2 years ago, i went elswhere and paid nearly a grand more than what i would of paid stevens , just because i did'nt want to deal with them .. Funny enough though the other dealer has looke after me so well on servicing and accesories , i've had the grand back .

Dealing with them has left such a bad taste in my mouth over the years , that i just refuse to buy a Triumph of them and theres no one else , even if you go interstate , they still have to service it and i would'nt let them service my grandkids push bike , i can tell you a couple of horror stories .. I'm ready for a new cruiser and will be going back to a harley , but even then i've been patiently waiting for the new harley store to open , and it opens next monday ,, thts 6 months the cash has been sat there waiting for them to open rather than buy of PS .

bUT ALL IS NOT LOST FOR YOU,GO OVER THERE HEADS ... . When i got my t bird of them , it was back firing and spluttering after they done the exhaust only for them to swear black and blue it was normal , i got sick of arguing with them and went over there heads to melbourne , tellling them i was going to Triumph England , the guy from Triumph in melbourne , said catergorally that burbling is normal, back firing HAS TO BE FIXED ,, he rang them they retuned it and it was all good .

Jesus that sucks!! Well the insurance will pay thankfully... It's $3500 damage can you believe it!!!!
They will be replacing the ECU and I'm assuming that it will be a recent manufacturer... Will I be able to use tuneecu on the new ECU or not?
