Met a couple friends in a town popular with bikers this weekend, lots of outdoor bars, so parking near where you want to be is sometimes a challenge. Our bikes fit comfortably in one car spot (my TBird, a Boulevard and a Fat Boy), my space adjacent to a large storm grate. Opened my trunk bag to put gloves away and my Sena SMH10 jumped out, bounced once and popped right into the slot, doing a full gainer into the water, about 5 feet down. Impossible to lever the grate up and probably wouldn't have been able to reach it, anyway.

It floated! Watched it do 4 laps in the little whirlpool at the bottom and then slid smoothly into the sewer pipe. Probably doing the backstroke down the Delaware River by now, heading out to open sea. If anybody finds an SMH10 module at the beach next year, please ship it back.

I guess if these lessons weren't expensive, they wouldn't be lessons.

See ... shit really does happen. At least your buddies didn't rub it in and mock you for your misfortune. My lot would have.

Had you been in California you would have been cited for polluting a waterway, improper disposal of e-waste and loitering. Probably a parking ticket, too.
Goes to show how dangerous motorcycles are - even when parked.

They were almost mildly sympathetic and joined me in wishing it a bon voyage as it disappeared down the drain. Even bought me a lemonade to drown my sorrows.

You should find new friends.
